FAQ’s for Oasis Concert Series - Heaton Park June 4th, 6th and 7th.


1.    What is the number of the Community Information Hotline for the Oasis concerts ?

The community information hotline number will provide residents with information or assist to address issues that arise on the days of the concerts. Operators will take details of the request / complaint and contact the appropriate department or contractor to action a response.

The phone lines will be staffed:
Thursday 4th       08:00 – 01:00
Friday 5th             08:00 – 20:00
Saturday 6th        08:00 – 01:00
Sunday 7th          08:00 – 01:00


2.    What time does the concert start and finish ?

Gates to the venue for ticket holders open at 14:00.
The first live band will be on stage at 16:00.
The licensed curfew for the event is 23:00 but it is expected that the concert will finish before this time.

3.    How many people will be at the concerts each night ?

70,000 people will be attending each night.

4.    How are people travelling to the venue ?

Ticket holders have been provided with information directing them to the Park and Ride facilities at Bowlee, Rochdale if they are driving. An event specific bus service is running from the city centre – from Lever Street and Corporation Street - and existing bus services and the Metrolink will also be key modes of transport. A number of pre-booked coaches will also be bringing ticket holders to the venue and will be parked on site.

5.    What roads will be closed and when ?

Road closures are only being put in place on each concert date to assist the egress of concert goers from the site. These will be from 21.30  until 01:00 and implemented on:
•    Bury Old Road (from Sheepfoot Lane to Heys Road)
•    Sheepfoot Lane

Full signed diversions will be in place and Marshalls will be on hand to assist.

6. What if road closures affect access to my property ?

Marshalls will be in place to facilitate resident access to roads affected by the closures.

7.    Where will concert visitors be parking ?

All concert visitors are being directed to a special Park and Ride facility at Bowlee in Rochdale – where shuttle buses are available to transfer them to the park - and to car parks in the city centre where existing public transport to the park can be used.
 
8.    What measures are being taken to stop people parking in the residential areas surrounding the park.

Concert visitors have been advised that there is no parking in the area around Heaton Park and they should plan their route using public transport or make use of the event’s Park and Ride facility. Cones and signage will be positioned at the entry roads to surrounding residential areas to reinforce the restrictions on concert traffic parking.

10.    How will the metrolink service be affected ?

The metrolink service will operate as normal up to the main period of egress from the concert. Heaton Park station will be closed for access on the nights of the concerts with Bowker Vale the dedicated station for concert goers leaving the event.

11.    What is the contact number for Metrolink ?

0161 205 2000 (lines are manned from 07:00 – 23:00 Monday to Friday and 10:00 – 18:00 Saturday and Sunday)

12.    Will I be able to access my local polling station for the European elections on Thursday June 4th ?

Yes – access to the polling stations will not be affected, but there will be more traffic on the roads in the area.

13.    Is there a cleansing operation in place for areas outside the park ?

Yes – the Local Authorities are working with the concert promoters to provide a full cleansing service to the surrounding area for the period of the event.

14.    Who should I contact if I want to report issues to do with litter or street cleansing as a result of the concert ?

15.    What has been done to avoid excessive drinking in the area ?

The concert promoters, Local Authorities and Greater Manchester Police are working with all licensed premises and retailers in the area and police and security measures have been put in place to assist to manage alcohol consumption in public areas.

16.    Will I be able to use the rest of the park, and if so, will it be safe ?

Yes – the rest of the park is open as normal. Additional security measures are being put in place across the period of the concert with a large number of security personnel assigned to the area.

17.    Will the area around the park be safe ?

Security staff will be positioned on Sheepfoot Lane and Bury Old Road to provide crowd control measures outside residential and business properties. Greater Manchester Police will have an event specific operation in place before, during and after the concerts.
